College students are working tirelessly to make their campuses and communities more sustainable in a number of ways.   Green Tower Sustainability is the only organization of it’s kind, working to maximize the efforts of student sustainability leaders around the world who are indeed the change agents of tomorrow.”

I have to admit that our talk was so inspiring that i really can not stop thinking of it, so I feel that I should just write these words to you. I honestly think that GreenTowerConsultancy has such a huge potential that you should really think big, imagine things going to unfold on a global, worldwide scale! Why do I think that? There are some amazing things about your project:

1st INCLUSION

It is inclusive, in the sense that many other organizations such as oikos and whatsoever are exclusive as they require memberships and just give the benefits to their members. Such organizations do their little thing, but do not really connect to others. However, just every studentorga can contact you, ask for consultancy and then continue doing their thing.

2nd INSPIRATION

It is just amazing and so inspiring do connect to like-minded people all over the world and to create these great synnergy effects and to feel that one is part of a global movement. A consultancy that operates on a worldwide scale would allow also those student organizations to see the bigger picture and to maybe think beyond the horizons of their little campus. Worldwide peer to peer advice is an excellent way to reach people to become part of a global movement.

3rd DEMAND

This is the most important thing I would say: The demand is probably so immense that we cannot yet grasp it! FREE consultancy! what better thing is there for any studentgroup that is somehow stuck in their efforts. anybody that somehow wants to get serious with their activism will at one or the other moment search the internet for people that can help them! So far I don’t think that there is ANY organization worldwide that provides such free and great services – besides those exclusive membership clubs. Students especially don’t know yet how to work professionally: How to write proposals? Do marketing? Create a movement? How to do participatory decision making, get stakholder involved, PR, organize a conference, get funding, do research, exchange best practices … argh there is just so much to know to work professionally and you could then just offer online tutorials and courses. You’re already piling up such stuff on the website and it was already very useful for me. But, we need more!

4th EFFICIENCY

Thanks to internet technology you’re just so amazingly flexible! No so much meetings and seminars on the ground, but everything via skype, facebook, email and twitter. fast, cheap and with a big impact. just try to avoid getting so much looked up in all this administrative work of big orgas that require membership and are very structured and slow. just a more or less structured, somehow still informal network of people that do consultancy work and know how to establish the relevant links. Getting things moving is really first of all about knowing the right people. And you can provide that network. I can just imagine how a student consultant in Soutafrica gets a student on the line who then requires some expertize on reducing CO2 emissions in labs and then this student consultant just links this African up with some other consultant sitting in Califorina – and all of this with 6 mouse clicks or so! You can maybe even get a worldwide 24/7 skype consultancy service. When the sun sets in Asia and the consultants there go to sleep, another consultant in Europe gets up and takes over the service.”
