About Hunter Flynn

Hunter Flynn

GTS Mentor

Experience:

Hunter Flynn began his time as a student sustainability leader with UCSB’s Community Affairs Board.  In this position, Hunter helped match students with volunteer agencies in the Santa Barbara area.   Hunter also volunteered for various organizations himself.   He then went on to be the Sustainable Business Chair for the Environmental Affairs Board (EAB), where he collaborated with local businesses to promote sustainability.  In this role, Hunter organized a very successful carrot mob, which 560 people participated in and raised around $6000 in the first day to fund energy efficiency modifications for a local business.

Hunter also worked on a campaign to minimize plastic bags in Isla vista community.   The campaign’s goal was to propose tax on plastic bags.  This proposition is still being considered.
Off campus Activities:
YMCA summer director. Leadership camp 13-15 year olds. He helped transform the camp to be sustainable. 25 kids a day would eat 2 snacks on all disposable stuff. So purchased reusables and they washed all the stuff themselves. Purchased all food from whole food but paid less money. Cooking it themselves, they picked it out (healthy foods only).
